Do I need council approval for a pool in Brisbane?
Yes, you need building approval for your swimming pool and pool fence from either Brisbane City Council or a private certifier. All residential pools in Queensland must also be registered with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC). You cannot fill your pool with water until the building certifier has certified that the pool barriers and fencing comply with the pool safety standard.
